Property tax freeze applications now open for seniors in St. Charles County
ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. — Some seniors in St. Charles County may soon get tax relief through a property tax freeze if they qualify for the county's new program. The county announced Monday that applications for the county's senior property tax freeze are now open. The freeze comes after Missouri Gov. Mike Parson passed a law in 2023 that allowed counties to enact the property freeze.
St. Charles County residents impacted by 2019 flooding can start buyout application process
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - St. Charles County residents whose homes were flooded in 2019 can start the flood buyout application process. Letters have gone out to 947 property owners in northern St. Charles County who may be eligible. The owners must complete an expression of interest form to start the application process.

Eyewitness recounts shooting inside St. Clair Bowling Alley that injured two
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - O’Fallon Police are investigating whether a fight at St. Clair Bowling Alley Sunday evening led to a shooting about an hour later. O’Fallon Police say they were called to the bowling alley around 9:00 on Sunday night after a report of a large group of juveniles fighting inside and in the parking lot. Upon arrival, according to cell phone video shared with First Alert 4, hundreds of juveniles can be seen punching each other. One female is seen on video with a hammer in her hand. Police said when officers arrived, many of the the juveniles left the bowling alley.

St. Charles County Sees Significant Drop in Vehicle Thefts Thanks to Local Task Force
Vehicle-related thefts in St. Charles County, Missouri, have notably reduced since 2020 due to an effective crime prevention strategy. In 2020, motor vehicle thefts in the county increased by 64%, with 632 vehicles stolen by year-end. Thefts from vehicles also increased by 8%, leading to 855 reported incidents. To combat this, local police departments established the Criminal Interdiction Task Force in 2021.

The most prevalent crime was categorized as 'Other', with 166 cases, accounting for more than half of the total crime reported. This was followed by 'Suspicious Situation' with 52 cases, 'Theft' with 22 cases, and 'Alarm' with 19 cases. 'Disturbance' and 'Assault' were also reported 15 and 11 times respectively.
