Softball: Two-out hitting powers Northwestern to series sweep over Nebraska
Two-out production and strong pitching performances lifted Northwestern to its fifth conference sweep of the season with two wins over Nebraska. After defeating the Cornhuskers (27-20, 10-7 Big Ten) in the opening two games of the weekend, the Wildcats (31-9, 17-2 Big Ten) trailed 5-0 in the fourth inning of the series’ final game, which was ultimately canceled due to inclement weather.

Joseph Harrow beams with pride at his 9-year-old daughter Lucille as they finish the first Lakeshore Shuffle 5K Run and Walk. “She never ran a mile,” said dad of Lucille, a third grader at Dewey Elementary School. “I knew she would make it.” More than 150 runners signed up and 122 completed the race. The course ran from Lake Street north to the Northwestern University Lakefill, then south to Lee Street before turning north back to Dawes Park.
