Road closure ‘no reason’ not to visit Mount St. Helens on ‘erupt-iversary’
COWLITZ COUNTY, Wash. — Saturday, May 18 marks the 44th anniversary of the eruption of Mount St. Helens. For the second year, visitors to Mount St. Helens won’t be able to drive to the closest observation center due to a road closure caused by a landslide in May of 2023.

Greathouse Performance on Saturday, May 25 at 2 pm – “Life is a Cabaret” is the second and newest of Helena and Mark Greathouse’s two original shows which describe their lives together through flashbacks since 1968, when they first met as foreign students in former West Germany. This new show contains 12 mostly cabaret songs, both in American and Czech, all combined through dialog and accordion music with funny incidents from their life. There will be a question and answer session afterwards.
In Preparation: Columbia Chorale of Oregon performing locally
Columbia Chorale of Oregon and the River City Children’s Choirs will perform their pre-Carnegie Hall concert locally on May 19, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. at the Christian Church of St. Helens, 185 S. 12th Street, St. Helens, OR. We invite the public to hear The Magnificat and other selections by composer John Rutter. Columbia Chorale of Oregon will be performing Magnificat on May 27, 2024 in Carnegie Hall in New York City.
