IDOT eliminating left turns at Decatur intersection due to construction

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — Road construction is set to begin at an intersection in Decatur, during which left turns will be prohibited.

The intersection is at Pershing Road and University Avenue. IDOT officials said construction will begin on Monday and last until May 15. Left turns will not be allowed, but one lane of traffic in each direction of Pershing will be maintained.

Signs and traffic control will be in place to direct traffic during this partial closure, officials said.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes, if possible. Otherwise, drivers should allow for extra time to travel through the area. They should also pay attention to the posted signs and be alert for workers and equipment.
