MORRISTOWN, NJ - The Social Security Administration (SSA) has announced a significant policy change that will standardize the treatment of rental subsidies for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) applicants and recipients across the nation. Starting September 30, 2024, a uniform rule concerning "business arrangements" for rent payments will be applied, expanding a previously limited exception to all states.

The Denver City Council learned more Wednesday about the workforce development component of the Denver Asylum Seekers Program. The city has transitioned the way it helps migrants, closing shelters and instead placing 800 people in the asylum program. That includes people who had been staying in non-congregate hotel shelters, all but one of which have closed. New migrant arrivals will not be eligible for the six-month work program until some graduate, according to a presentation by city staff. The city intends to keep 500 people in the work program at a time, according to Tony Anderson, workforce development manager for the city.
