SIU women’s basketball signs a local graduate transfer
The Southern Illinois University women's basketball team has added a veteran presence to its locker room, as it has signed graduate transfer Jeniah Thompson. Thompson, who is from Carterville, initially came to Southern Illinois her freshman year, but then went to John A. College. There, the 5-foot-9 guard averaged 23.2 points and 11.9 rebounds-per-game, and was a NJCAA Third Team All-American in 2021-22.

Southern Illinois sees season end in 7-3 semifinal loss to Indiana State
PADUCAH, Ky. -- Southern Illinois couldn't replicate its upset over Indiana State in the semifinal round of the MVC Tournament on Saturday, falling 7-3. The Salukis, who defeated Indiana State in the tournament on Wednesday, looked like they could repeat history after taking a 2-0 lead in the third inning. However, a four-run sixth inning helped the Sycamores to their first lead, and ultimately, the semifinal win.
