Two hotel properties sold in Des Moines metro area
Midwest IA Hotels LLC, located in Clive, paid Shree Laxmi Narayan Inc. $3.5 million for property at 1600 N.W. 114th St. in Clive, Polk County real estate records show. The hotel, which operates as a Days Inn, was built on a 2.60-acre parcel in 1989. The three-story building incudes 131 units. The property is valued at $2.7 million. The transaction was recorded April 22.

Several metro schools say they won't arm staff
Des Moines Public Schools is not planning on allowing armed staff members in its buildings, despite the passage of a new law intended to pave the way for schools to arm staff. "Des Moines Public Schools does not have an interest in allowing teachers and staff to be armed in our school buildings and has no plans to opt into a new program that allows for guns to be present in schools," said Phil Roeder, the district's spokesperson.
