Fort Lauderdale police are asking for the public's help finding a 60-year-old man with Alzheimer's who walked away from a home on Davie Boulevard this week. Dieuseul Joseph was last seen near 3228 Davie Blvd. on Nov. 4, according to police, and officers say he has a history of wandering off.

Local Nonprofit Proposes Veteran Housing Project at 3701 N. University Drive, Coral Springs, Florida

‘We're going to be underwater': What Florida's property tax cut means for flooding

Florida voters resoundingly decided to slash their own property taxes on election day, sending shockwaves through the local governments who now have to figure out which services to cut. On the potential chopping block: the millions (and billions) of flooding projects that are sorely needed in soggy South Florida. At the Southeast Florida Climate Compact’s annual summit this week, elected officials from Palm Beach County to the Keys openly worried about what this new mandate means for the projects they’ve been advocating for. A Florida man allegedly stole more than $4M in a psychic-fraud scheme

A former Florida resident is facing charges he stole more than $4 million from people all over the country through a mail-fraud scheme where he claimed a psychic was predicting their financial future. Mael Chemla, 61, a U.S., French and Israeli national, who previously lived in Aventura, Florida, about 15 miles from Miami appeared in a South Florida courtroom Nov. 2. He’s facing charges of conspiracy, mail fraud and wire fraud. Chemia is accused of working with others to send letter to people throughout the country from supposed psychics, federal officials said. “The letters falsely informed victims that the psychic had learned of an imminent financial windfall the victim was entitled to receive, and the victim needed to send a payment in order to receive the financial windfall,” according to a statement from the U.S. Department of Justice. How did former Florida resident use psychic scheme to defraud victims of more than $4 million? Chemla opened U.S. bank accounts in the names of the purported psychics, deposited checks from victims of the scheme into those accounts, then wired the victim funds to European bank accounts controlled by a co-conspirator, federal officials said.
