    Vote for the SouthCoast High School Softball Player of the Week for May 6-12

    The winner of last week’s Softball Player of the Week poll was Wareham ’s Jolee Anderson. She had more than 9,000 votes (48%) to receive the honor.

    Anderson went a combined 8-for-14 with eight RBIs and seven runs scored. She had a home run against Westport. On the mound, she struck out 12 against Holbrook.

    Previous winners were Fairhaven ’s Stella Zangao, Dartmouth ’s Paige Martins and Wareham’s Jolee Anderson and Samantha Purcell. The winner of the Preseason Softball Player of the Year poll was New Bedford’s Hayleigh Chenard.

    Each week during the regular season, we will highlight the top performances.

    Here’s your chance to vote for the top high school softball performance from the past week.

    VOTE: Baseball Player of the Week for May 6-12

    Lauren Bernaiche, Apponequet

    In a pair of wins over Seekonk and Somerset Berkley, Bernaiche had a combined 27 strikeouts while allowing just two total runs.

    Arianna Camara, Apponequet

    Camara went a combined 2-for-6 with a home run and RBI triple in two games for Apponequet.

    Christina Magnett, Apponequet

    Magnett went a combined 3-for-7 with a two-run home run, three RBIs and two runs scored.

    Katie Manzone, Bishop Stang

    In three games, Manzone went a combined 9-for-11 with an RBI and three runs scored.

    Alex Texeira, Bishop Stang

    In a pair of games against Dartmouth and New Bedford, Texeira went a combined 4-for-7 with a run scored.

    Megan Arruda, Dartmouth

    In a pair of games against Durfee and Bridgewater-Raynham, Arruda struck out a combined 20.

    Sarah Cabral, Dartmouth

    Cabral led Dartmouth with three hits and two RBIs in a win over Durfee.

    Paige Martins, Dartmouth

    Martins went 3-for-6 with three RBIs in a 12-inning loss to Bridgewater-Raynham.

    WINTER AWARDS: Our 2024 Girls Basketball Player of the Year, Super Team & All-Stars

    Arden Bradshaw, Fairhaven

    Bradshaw allowed one earned run on 10 hits and one walk while striking out seven for Fairhaven in an extra-inning loss to Bourne. Against GNB Voc-Tech, Bradshaw went 2-for-5 with an RBI.

    Lola Chase, Fairhaven

    In a loss to GNB Voc-Tech, Chase went 3-for-4 with two RBIs.

    Ava Neno, GNB Voc-Tech

    Neno went a combined 6-for-8 with five runs scored in a pair of games.

    Alexia Tsonis, GNB Voc-Tech

    Tsonis went a combined 8-for-9 with five runs scored and two RBIs.

    Ana Tsonis, GNB Voc-Tech

    Tsonis pitched the Bears to wins over Old Rochester and Fairhavne. She also went 2-for-4 with two runs scored against the Bulldogs.

    Hayleigh Chenard, New Bedford

    Chenard pitched the Whalers to wins over Falmouth and Durfee with a combined 11 strikeouts.

    Amelia Davis, New Bedford

    In two games, Davis had a combined four hits and two RBIs.

    Kayleigh DeSousa, Old Colony

    Not only did DeSousa have 10 strikeouts against Bristol-Aggie, she also went 2-for-3 at the plate with three walks, three RBIs and two runs scored.

    Patty Spillane, Old Colony

    In a loss to Bristol-Aggie, Spillane went 3-for-4 with two walks, three doubles, two runs scored and four RBIs.

    Jolee Anderson, Wareham

    Against Nauset, Anderson was 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs and pitched three innings, allowing no hits with five strikeouts.

    Sawyer Boutin, Wareham

    Boutin was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a home run against Nauset.

    Madison Nereu, Wareham

    In a win over Nauset, Nereu went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and a run scored while pitching two innings, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out five.
