DARDANELLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has issued a small craft advisory for the Arkansas River, according to a news release.

USACE says heavy rain in Eastern Oklahoma over the weekend resulted in the river flow exceeding 70,000 cubic feet per second in Dardanelle.

Small craft advisories are issued when flows exceed 70,000 cubic feet per second, USACE said.

“Strong currents and large debris can threaten the safety of pleasure craft during high flows,” USACE said in the release.

The current flows in Dardanelle as of 9:30 a.m. on Monday are above 110,000 cubic feet per second and a crest greater than 100,000 cubic feet per second will make its way downstream over the coming days, according to USACE.
