Dansville, N.Y. — Our Bright Spot shines on a fitting tribute to the woman who founded the first chapter of the American Red Cross back in 1881 in Dansville. A statue in Dansville was unveiled of Clara Barton on Saturday at the St. Peter’s and St. Paul’s churches who helped coordinate the project with the support of benefactors and sculptor Dexter Benedict.

The Wheeler Historical Society did a cleanup of the Pioneer portion of the town cemetery last weekend. Last October, when we were setting up our Haunted Hay Ride, we were disgusted at the state of it - brush overgrowing at least two headstones, fungus and lichen on all the stones so they couldn't be read.
Man admits to 2020 protest incident, assaulting deputies in jail
A Rochester man who was arrested after the 2020 local protests then later assaulted two sheriff's deputies in jail has admitted his crimes in federal court. JohnMichael Santiago, 24, pleaded guilty, admitting that he threw fireworks at police during the September protests. The protests were spurred by the death of Daniel Prude, who died of asphyxiation and other causes a week after he was restrained by Rochester police.
