Sha’Carri Richardson Wins Pre Classic In 10.83 Secs In Her First 100m Of Olympic Season

Sha’Carri Richardson, in a display of sheer dominance, continued her revenge tour at the Prefontaine Classic at Hayward Field on Saturday. She clinched victory in the women’s 100-meter dash, leaving her competitors in her wake.

And she’s only getting started, judging by the sprinting dynamo.

Outperforming a field that included Julien Alfred, Dina Asher-Smith, Ta Lou, and two-time reigning Olympic gold medalist Elaine Thompson-Herah, Richardson won in 10.83 seconds.

Sha’Carri Richardson was initially identified at Carter High School in Dallas. Her success was further highlighted at the AAU Junior Olympics and college events, where she was hailed as the sport’s upcoming big star.

The current world champion got off to a great start. Still, she initially trailed Alfred by a small margin before quickening her pace and taking the lead.

Richardson won in 10.83 seconds, defeating a field that included the world championships’ fourth and fifth-place finishers from August last year. In addition, Jamaican Elaine Thompson-Herah, the two-time reigning Olympic gold medallist, finished last in 11.30.

She won the world championship in August of last year in a time of 10.65 seconds, which she set for herself, and she’s expected to beat that record this summer.

“I felt great about my race. It’s my [100-meter season] opener, I would not be human to say that I wasn’t nervous. As my coach says, use that nervousness as motivation,” Richardson said afterward.

In addition to her legendary speed, Sha’Carri Richardson is praised for her unique style, which includes vivid hair colors, long manicures, and tattoos. These attributes have helped to establish her as a legendary athlete.

Richardson broke two U20 world records at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships in 2019 on the same day. She started by defeating Marlies Göhr’s 42-year-old record in the 100 meters in 10.75. Richardson then lost by a whisker in the 200 meters, but her time of 22.17 beat Allyson Felix’s mark from the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
