    Avocad-‘woah’: DFW Latin market breaks this Guinness World Record

    DALLAS (KDAF) — El Rio Grande Latin Market just broke the Guinness World Record for the largest fruit display with their abundance of avocados!

    The store on North Buckner Boulevard was certified by Guinness on May 3. They hosted a celebration of the world record over the weekend. The event featured mariachi bands, DJs, live performances, scholarship giveaways and much more.

    The display featured 301,000 avocados, according to the record report. With the record being officially broken at 10 a.m. on May 3. The previous Guinness Book of World Records weight was held by Jewel-Osco in Westmont, Illinois and Del Monte Fresh Produce with 211,000 bananas.

    El Rio has multiple locations including Dallas, Fort Worth, Grand Prairie and Garland. Find out more about the grocery store and their efforts.
