A 911 call led officers to a home where they found a killer and the victim’s body, according to cops in Dallas, Texas . Omar Lucio, 34, is in the local jail for a count of murder and also other charges, records show.

The family of victim Corinna Johnson, 27, say the killing followed a history of domestic violence during the six-year relationship.

“Every time we’d see her come in with black eyes or bruises, her mother, we would always warn her, ‘You don’t need to be back with him. He’s going to hurt you. He’s going to kill you,’” her aunt, Kathy Gareau, told Fox Dallas affiliate KDFW .

Johnson was reportedly the mother to a 7-year-old.

The 911 caller was a woman who said she met Lucio at his apartment at around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 14 after he called her requesting help.

Lucio allegedly claimed to her that he had been drinking with Johnson at a bar. He blamed Johnson for the the bar kicking them out, according to his version of events. Lucio allegedly said he had “knocked some sense into her” but she became unresponsive.

The woman described finding Johnson lying on the bathroom floor. The victim had a bruised and bloody face, and she was apparently dead. The woman called cops the next day, officers said.

Dallas cops said they learned about the case from their counterparts in the city of Garland on Monday at approximately 1:15 a.m.. The incident happened about 24 hours before in the 1300 block of W. Wheatland Road, they said.

“The preliminary investigation determined officers responded to the location and found a man, identified as 34-year-old Omar Lucio, who refused to come outside,” they wrote. “Around 3:00 am, Lucio came outside and was taken into custody. Officers entered the apartment and found a woman inside unresponsive. Dallas Fire Rescue responded and the woman died at the scene.”

Speaking to cops, Lucio allegedly said he “snapped” in the vehicle and beat Johnson, according to the KDFW report.

Offiers noted Lucio had blood under his fingernails and on his left shoe. There were injuries to his hands, they said.

But Lucio allegedly did not explain how Johnson wound up in bedding in the closet.

Officers also claimed to find bloody clothes in the defendant’s car.

“My sister was just the most bubbly person ever,” Erica Hernandez told the outlet. “She was full of joy. She was a ray of sunshine.”

Johnson’s family is holding a GoFundMe campaign to pay for her funeral.
