DALLAS COUNTY, Iowa — A suspected tornado caused some damage to a property in Dallas County Tuesday morning.

The rural property in the 24000 block of 230th Street, northwest of Dallas Center, lost a barn and some sheds in the storm.

Property owner Shane Boston told WHO 13 he got a call from local authorities that his horses were out, so he took an early lunch at work and headed home. On the way, his sister-in-law called to tell him his horses were out — because his barns were gone.

“Well you know I could see it from quite a ways away, and I could see what was missing as I came up. And uh, you know, I felt really blessed that we had what we had left and really no damage. And this will clean up so quick and easy. And what we learned you know in ’05, and I’m already learning it again now, is we live in a county that people care about people, and that I’ll have more people show up here. Here’s a skidloader, I don’t even know who it is. You know people just take care of each other. And this will be cleaned up, you won’t even know that it happened except for that fact that we’re missing a barn by tonight. We are just blessed to be in a community that has that much group, that much network, that much love, care and compassion,” Boston said.

No one was home when the storm hit and there’s just a little damage to the home, said Boston.

Some of the debris from the destroyed buildings is covering the gravel road.

Cleaning up the damage at Boston’s property has already begun.

The National Weather Service has not yet confirmed that it was a tornado that caused the damage. A storm survey will be completed later.
