A diner outside Ankeny will offer old favorites and more under a new name. Darren and Sherry Warth announced this month they bought the former Sorriso Grille, 7015 N.E. 14th St., in the Carney area just south of Ankeny's city limits. Melinda Strable, the Warth's nearby neighbor who opened the restaurant in 2014, closed Sorriso in April and retired.

'He would make a way': Redfield diner, devastated by fire, beginning rebuild
REDFIELD, Iowa — The rebuilding process is underway at Dexfield Diner in Redfield after the owner, Steve Roberts, vowed to reopen after a devastating fire. Firefighters were called to the restaurant on Feb. 26. Nearly everything but the building was lost to the flames, including several pieces of Redfield history. The fire also stripped the town of its only restaurant, which Dexfield Diner regular Anita Yates said is a blow to the community.
