Colorful Stars and Clouds Near Rho Ophiuchi
Why ntares and Rho Ophiuchi so colorful, yet dusty? The colors result from a mixture of objects and processes. Fine dust — illuminated by starlight — produces blue reflection nebulae. Gaseous clouds whose atoms are excited by ultraviolet starlight produce reddish emission nebulae. Backlit dust clouds block starlight and so appear dark. Antares, a red supergiant and one of the brighter stars in the night sky,lights up the yellow-red clouds on the upper right of the featured image.

Muncie man tried in absentia found guilty of dealing cocaine, possessing meth
MUNCIE, Ind. — A Muncie man has been found guilty of dealing in cocaine and other crimes by a Delaware Circuit Court 1 jury. However, 58-year-old Reginald D. Akins Jr. wasn't present Wednesday when the guilty verdicts were returned. Akins failed to show up for a trial that began Monday and was tried in absentia.
White River Alliance announces Paddle Days event
The White River Alliance, which works to improve and protect water resources in central Indiana, has announced this year’s White River Paddle Days and Festival Races. The events will take place June 14 at Canoe Country in Daleville, June 15 at Frank’s Paddlesports Livery in Indianapolis and June 16 at White River Canoe Co. in Noblesville. Check-in begins daily at 8:30 a.m., and buses will leave for the starting line at 9 a.m.
