A native of Daingerfield cut the ribbon of the brand new office for her business, Chism Investment Properties LLC.

Tegra Chism said she earned her real estate license after her parents died.

“They had rental properties, so I actually had to figure out what to do from there. I went to real estate school and got my license. Then I dived in,” Chism said.

Chism expressed how valuable she believes it is to take care of your neighbors and give back to the community.

“We invest in the children here. We have scholarship programs. We are just looking to build into that, continue to increase the home building for citizens that do not know that they are qualified to purchase homes. We have been setting goals to clean up communities in Morris County, Daingerfield, and Lone Star. We’ve been buying homes, updating them, and either renting or selling them.” According to Chism, opening the new office for her business is a big step. She said, “This is a path God put us on. I just want to fulfill that responsibility and be able to help others. This is a big thing to me because I love helping people.”

Apart from the real estate, Tegra’s husband also runs a barbecue business called ‘Chism’s Grill’. Their menu has turkey legs, pulled pork, brisket, and much more. Chism’s Grill is a mobile business and they’ve taken the grilling to park activities, car shows, and other events.

Chism said she hopes that more people will take an interest in living in Daingerfield.

“This area has a lot of potential,” Chism said. “It’s affordable here. We have a lot of single parents here, people that don’t have a lot of income. We’re just trying to let them know that we have a program for them too, my lenders offer programs for all types of household circumstances.”

Chism Investment Properties is located at 404 Broadnax Avenue in Daingerfield. Their business hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
