The Daingerfield Tigers came tantalizingly close to sharing a district championship, but could not secure the win over Sabine at home in their second meeting and fell in their district finale at New Diana.

The Tigers looked to shake that off in favor of a deep playoff run, kicking off their run against Troup at Pine Tree’s Pirate Center.

The blue and white Tigers of Morris County jumped out to a five-point lead after the first quarter and extended it to 10 at halftime against the maroon and white Tigers of Cherokee and Smith counties. Daingerfield finished the game on a 30-20 run to claim the bi-district championship, 62-42.

Daingerfield moved on to the area round where they met the fifth-ranked Hooks Hornets at Mount Pleasant’s Willie Williams Gymnasium. Unfortunately, Hooks would be the blue and white team taking advantage of scoring runs, starting the game on a 20-6 run and taking a 21-point lead into the half. Daingerfield battled in the second half, but Hooks’ run was too large as the Hornets won over the Tigers, 83-48.

The Tigers finished their season at 9-9 overall and 7-3 in district play. Daingerfield graduates seniors Tristan Smith and Skylar Smith.
