Friday, the Daingerfield Tigers had a chance to pull into a tie for first place in District 15-3A. The team needed a win over Sabine to split the season series and possibly share a district title with just one game remaining after Friday.

Unfortunately, the Tigers couldn’t maintain their fast start, falling in their home finale against the Cardinals, 68-51. Sabine outscored Daingerfield in the third quarter, 20-7 to take control of the game. The Tigers tried to come back in the fourth quarter, but the Cardinals’ defense allowed Sabine to maintain their lead even through a cold spell in the fourth.

Chase Johnson led Daingerfield with 18 points. Kenny Mosley added 16 points. Cameron Wilson and Brayden Williams each finished with seven and Skylar Smith put in two.

Hudson McNatt led Sabine with 23 points. Colt Sparks finished with 18 and Dalton Taylor put in 12.

The Tigers are currently second in district and finished their regular season Tuesday on the road at New Diana. Daingerfield will likely take on Troup in the bi-district round of the playoffs next week.
