This Colorado Children’s Museum Is A Secret Wonderland With 4 Floors Of Hands-On Play
A lookout perched more than 55 feet in the air crowns a kids’ adventure course, and the exit is a pair of dueling 70-foot slides. Somehow, that’s just one corner of a Colorado museum built for children eight and under. The campus stretches across 9 acres and packs...

Organizing an Upset: A Talk with Melat Kiros’ Organizing Director
Last night, Denver voters brought home an electoral upset first put in motion more than four months ago. In the June 30 primary election for Colorado’s overwhelmingly Democratic 1st Congressional District, democratic socialist newcomer Melat Kiros defeated 30-year-incumbent Congresswoman Diana DeGette by double digits. Last night, as general election ballots were tallied, the voters of Denver made official what was already a fait accompli: Kiros will represent Denver in Congress.

HASHIM COATES: Aurora has a troubling relationship with democracy
Something is fundamentally wrong with a government spending more energy controlling the voices of its residents than addressing the injustices they speak about. Yet this has become an increasingly disturbing pattern in Aurora, where public participation appears welcome only when it doesn’t challenge the comfort or authority of those holding power.

Colorado man turns videotapes of his grandfather into new podcast about his family’s flight from Nazis during WWII
Jeremy Gendelman sat his paternal grandfather down at their family’s Denver kitchen table in 2008, a camcorder trained on him, and asked a single question. “Where were you born?” Yakov “Yasha” Gendelman didn’t stop talking for three hours. “I was born in 1930 in the Soviet Union,” Yasha began. “My childhood was not the best.” Those words, captured on early-aughts videotape, became the introductory lines in Gendelman’s podcast “Yasha,” which launched in September with a five-episode first season that can be found wherever you get your podcasts and has since been spotlighted by Apple Podcasts as a show worth catching. Podcast episodes have been streamed or downloaded more than 24,000 times, Gendelman said. The story details Yasha’s childhood “caught between Hitler’s advancing forces and Stalin’s iron rule,” as Gendelman fused his grandfather’s extensive memories with his own historical research. Yasha died in 2019 at the age of 90, but the story of his childhood flight across the Soviet Union during the Nazi invasion of World War II is now preserved — an endeavor that began as a labor of love and evolved into a creative passion once Jeremy Gendelman fell in love with the audio storytelling format. “At first, it

10 Colorado Art Museums With Standout Collections And Rotating Exhibits
One Colorado building holds roughly 95 percent of a single painter’s life’s work. That adds up to approximately 830 paintings and more than 2,300 works on paper and sculptures in the museum’s collection. I find that number wild. The surprises keep coming once you start looking. One...
