Perryville High School senior wins scholarship at international science fair
PERRYVILLE, Mo. (KFVS) - A senior at Perryville High School has won a scholarship at the 2024 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair. On March 5, Simon Wibbenmeyer was one of the winners at the 2024 Southeast Missouri Regional Science Fair held in Cape Girardeau. This advanced his project to the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles, California. The international fair ran from May 11-15.

Confluence Books hosts sci-fi fantasy author, Stephen Johnson, for a book reading on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, at 5 p.m. Johnson will read from "The Man from Rock Bottom," and sign books following the reading. Carbondale PD reports vehicle theft, provides prevention tips
CARBONDALE, Ill. — The City of Carbondale Police Department is actively investigating two recent motor vehicle thefts, the department reported Monday. A news release from the City of Carbondale Police Department said that officers responded to a report of a vehicle theft on Sunday in the 1500 block of West Taylor Street. A purple 2016 Dodge Challenger was reportedly stolen during the night. Evidence suggested the suspect smashed the window to gain access to the car. A red 2016 Dodge Challenger was reported stolen in a similar way on May 9 in the 200 block of South Plover Drive in Carbondale.

One person dead in South St. Louis, another injured in North City shooting
Police say a murder happened on the 5500 block of Louisiana in the Dutchtown neighborhood of South St. Louis. The police received a call a little after 10 p.m. last night, and when they got there, they discovered a 37-year-old man who had been shot multiple times.
