Sulphur Springs restaurant damaged by fire
El Charro restaurant was damaged by a fire Friday afternoon, just as employees were arriving to open for dinner. The fire was called in around 2:30 p.m. Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County Fire Departments responded. Sulphur Springs Police assisted by blocking off College Street between Oak Avenue and Jackson Street to traffic.

One city council seat, one school board seat contested in Commerce municipal elections May 4
Municipal elections will be held Saturday, May 4, across Texas. In Commerce, one City Council seat will be contested. Garrett Smith and incumbent Beckey Thompson will race for the Place 2 seat on the council. One Commerce Independent School District Board of Trustees seat will be contested. Christian Henry will face off against incumbent Tamara Beadles for Place 2 seat on the Commerce ISD board.
We are abloom with bright spots
May is bringing blessings to Sulphur Springs. Two bright spots for our city occurred under sunny skies on Wednesday, May 1. The first was the much-awaited 11 a.m. ribbon-cutting for the Sulphur Springs Senior Citizens Center building at 301 Oak Ave. Although move-in time is still ahead, the first event scheduled in the facility is the Ms. Hopkins County Senior Classic Pageant on June 1, 2024. Already, nine contestants have signed up and at least one more is needed. Ladies aged 60 and older may apply.
4A Baseball: Lindale sweeps Sulphur Springs
LINDALE — Hudson LeGrow has been battling illness this week. But on Friday night, the Lindale junior was locked in and making life difficult for the Sulphur Springs Wildcats, striking out 10 batters and throwing a four-hit shutout in a 4-0 victory in Game 2 to sweep the Class 4A bi-district series after Lindale won 5-4 in Wednesday’s opener.
Tom Bean demolishes Cooper to complete sweep
MCKINNEY, Texas (KTEN)- The Tom Bean offense is on quite the hot streak. After beating Cooper 10-0 yesterday, the Tomcats dispatched the Bulldogs 11-0 today to complete the sweep in their bi-district series. Tom Bean will face Alvord in the area round.
