Barron Electric Cooperative recently donated $500 to the Cumberland American Legion-Anderson Thompson Post 98 for the annual High School to Heroes Banquet.

Jim Richie of Cumberland and Scott Cramer of Eau Claire both had sons who attended the U.S. Air Force Academy. They developed the idea of an evening to honor local area high school seniors who have committed to serve the nation in the Armed Forces.

This year, the banquet honored 24 high school seniors throughout northern Wisconsin who have committed to serve in the military.

“Thank you so much for your support of the High School to Heroes Banquet," Richie said. "This banquet is a great way for all local communities to show their support to the newest members of the U.S. military. A grateful nation thanks them for their willingness to serve and for their patriotism.”

Aaron Torud, general manager of Barron Electric Cooperative, commented, “We understand the commitment it takes to serve in the military, and we are proud to support these students and their dedication to our freedom.”

Barron Electric donations are derived from the Federated Youth Foundation, an administrative trust overseeing unclaimed capital credits of former members.
