HCTC announces Dean’s List honorees for Spring 2024 semester
The following students have been named to the Hazard Community and Technical College Dean’s Honor List for the Spring 2024 semester. To qualify for the list, students must be credential-seeking, earn a 3.5 grade point average or higher and successfully complete at least 12 KCTCS semester credits of coursework numbered 100 or above (excluding any courses considered developmental and without withdrawing from a course).

Authorities identified the victim in a shooting that happened Tuesday night in the Pikeville community in Jackson County. The Jackson County Sheriff's Office says Tracy Thomas Bradford, 58, of Scottsboro, was killed in the shooting. Beshear announces nearly $850,000 for rubber mulch projects
Gov. Andy Beshear announced May 13 that $847,878 will be awarded to 23 counties, including Perry, for projects using recycled rubber. Projects range from park benches, picnic tables, landscaping, parking curbs, poured-in-place surfacing projects for walking trails, poured-in-place running track and poured-in-place playgrounds that use recycled waste tires, according to a statement from the governor's office.
