A tentative agreement has been reached between Ascension Saint Joseph in Joliet and its nurses. They have gone on strike three times since last July, asking for higher wages and more staffing.
Veterans Dog Park opening after ceremony May 25
A dog park honoring US veterans is set to open during a ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 25 at the corner of Wapella Street and Wabena Avenue in Minooka. “A lonely, empty piece of green grass on a hill in downtown Minooka, Illinois is now one of the most beautiful Veterans Dog Parks in the country,” reads a Tuesday news release. “For three years, a lifelong resident drove by the open green pasture with a dream to design and construct a park for residents to bring their dogs to run and play off leash, but also a place to honor our Veterans. He envisioned a special place for Veterans to reminisce on their time wearing the uniform and their dedication and sacrifice for all those loved and lost.”

Ron Capps, three-time NHRA Funny Car champ, is set to compete at the Gerber Collision & Glass NHRA Route 66 Nationals presented by PEAK Performance, taking place from May 17 to 19 at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois. Capps, who has a rich history at this venue, has won the Route 66 Nationals twice, in 2017 and during the 2005 Fall race, which has since been discontinued. Additionally, he has been the runner-up five times (in 2007, 2016, 2018, 2023, and the 2002 Fall race) and earned the No. 1 qualifier position in 2013.

Driver Loses Control Of Vehicle In Joliet, Three Sent To The Hospital
On May 10, 2024, at 5:37 p.m., Joliet Officers responded to the 1500 block of McKinley Street for a report of a traffic crash with injuries. Upon arrival, Officers learned that a Polaris Slingshot driven by Leroy McAfee (44, Joliet) was southbound on McKinley Street. It is believed that the Slingshot lost control and collided head on into a Nissan Altima, driven by a female (28, Joliet) that was headed northbound on McKinley Street.

Human remains found in suburban Chicago construction project
CHICAGO (CBS) — a startling find in far southwest suburban Yorkville.Human remains were discovered during a water pipe construction project.Yorkville police consulted with the Kendall County Historical Society and discovered that a cemetery occupied the site in the 1840s and 1850s.They also learned that sometime in the late 1800s or early 1900s, the headstones there were relocated to a nearby cemetery, but some of the remains were not.The Kendall County Coroner's Office and Illinois State Police are working together to treat the disturbed ground properly and respectfully.
Bolingbrook Man Charged In Move Over Law After ISP Trooper Car Hit
An Illinois State Police trooper is recovering following a crash on I-55 in Will County. Authorities say the trooper’s stationary squad car was hit by a Toyota Corolla Monday night north of Route 59. The ISP squad car was parked on the right shoulder on Interstate 55 northbound near milepost 252, north of Route 59, with emergency lights activated, handling a traffic crash. The trooper was sitting inside of the squad car with his seatbelt fastened when his squad car was struck by a gray Toyota Corolla. The trooper was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Corolla, 31-year-old Asante Williams of Bolingbrook, was cited for the Move Over Law, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident and Improper Lane Usage.
