Little Yamsay Fire being used as prescribed burn near Chemult
AGNESS, Ore. – Updated at 11:45 a.m.: The Little Yamsay Fire is now 633 acres and is being used as a prescribed burn about 15 miles southeast of Chemult. The fire is under control, with no current closures or evacuations, and is being used to increase wildfire resiliency ahead of fire season.
Rainy weekend, mountain snow and wintry mix, Winter Weather Advisory in place
The east face of the Cascades, along with the entire Central Oregon Range is under a Winter Weather Advisory starting Saturday morning at 5 am, ending at 11 am Sunday. This includes western portions of Deschutes and Jefferson Counties. Sisters may see a few inches as well as Sunriver and La Pine. The chance for some snow over the Cascades is likely to be impactful to those traveling through our mountain passes. The fact that it is early May, and that we have over 14 hours of 'daytime', makes it hard for the snow to accumulate but slushy and icy roads are still a concern.

Mountain snow, wintry mix on the High Desert
The High Desert can expect a mix of rain and some snow throughout the morning. Showers should be tapering down by the afternoon hours. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 11am for the East Slopes of the OR Cascades, including the cities of La Pine, Sunriver and Sisters. Snow levels will be 4000 to 5000 feet. Travel through the mountain passes will be a challenge, so drive with caution.
