    High School Roundup: Highlights from Friday's games

    BASEBALL

    Division I

    Smithfield 11, Cumberland 6

    Jackson Chamberlain had a very productive day at the plate going 3-for-5 with 5 RBI and teammates Michael Villandry and Tucker Byrnes each had 2 RBI in the Sentinels' victory over the Clippers. Micah Cousineau had two hits and drove in two for Cumberland in the loss.

    Cranston West 11, Moses Brown 1

    George Threats doubled twice and also had a single and drove in two runs and Alex Milano smacked a 2-run single and was the winning pitcher, going all five innings while scattering 5 hits and striking out 5, in the win for the Falcons. Dante Piscopiello chipped in with a double and a sacrifice fly for Cranston West, which evens its record at 6-6. The Quakers slip to 5-6.

    North Kingstown 8, Central 1

    Will Creed threw 6 innings of 1-hit baseball while Christopher Ciarniello and Tucker Lamond provided the offense with 2 hits and an RBI apiece in a win for the Skippers. Ronan Gately and Dramaine Smith chipped in with an RBI apiece for NK, now 7-5. Adonis Medina had a hit and scored the lone run for the Knights, who fall to 1-11.

    South Kingstown 5, Coventry 4

    Liam Sagal doubled home the winning run in the top of the seventh inning as the Rebels held off the Oakers. South Kingstown took a two-run lead and held on behind reliever Quinn Matos and infielder Brandon Westerfield , who drove in two runs and stole two bases. Logan Downey , Anthony Colucci and Gabe Lopez each had two hits for Coventry.

    Division III

    West Warwick 8, Tolman/Shea 3

    It took until the fifth inning for the Wizards bats to come alive, and when they did it came to a tune of 8 runs, 5 of which came in the eighth inning, and West Warwick escaped with a victory over Tolman. In the extra frame, with score tied at 3, the Wizards' Logan Dean struck the big blow, a double that drove in two runs. It was the second hit of the game for Dean. West Warwick would add three more runs that inning, sealing the victory. Jaiden Mills , Jeremy Torres and Harold Fernandez each drove in a run for the Pawtucket co-op in the loss.

    SOFTBALL

    Division III

    Cranston East 14, Central 4

    Cranston East remains alone atop of Division III with a rout over Central. Isabella Sousa , Nevaeh Fatorma and Jaeda Viveiros each drove in two runs for the 9-0 Thunderbolt.

    BOYS LACROSSE

    Division I

    North Kingstown 3, Barrington 1 (25-17, 23-25, 25-18, 25-13)

    Twenty kills by Cody Tow , 11 kills and 14 digs by Ryan Harrington and 23 assists and 8 digs by Finn Kearney propelled the Skippers to the win. The Eagles were led by Cam Kelley (11 kills, 7 digs, 2 blocks) and Sang Min Park (29 assists 2 digs).

    GIRLS LACROSSE

    Division I

    East Greenwich 16, Lincoln School 8

    Tessa Charello-Ingegneri paced the Avengers with 4 goals and 2 assists, Catherine Sprague and Julia Moore each recorded 3 goals and an assist and Lindsey Rowe added 2 goals in the victory. For the Lynx, Eleanor Brown scored a team-high 4 goals.

    Division II

    North Kingstown 14, Burrillville 12

    The defending Division II champs faced their toughest challenge of the season thus far and the 1-2 punch of Jordan Parris and Mya Macchioni came through big to help the Skippers grab a 14-12 win over the Broncos. Parris led the way for North Kingstown with 5 goals and Macchioni scored four. Burrillville got a big game from Jenna Forrest , who had 4 goals in the loss.

    Chariho 16, Middletown 6

    Kayden Jaillet scored 6 goals and assisted on another, Chaia Elwell netted 5 goals, and Emily Ballard and Megan Ballard each had a pair of tallies, as the Chargers outscored the Islanders. Chariho is now 8-1 and leads the II-B division.  Middletown, which falls to 3-7, got 4 goals and an assist from Riley Clare .

    Cumberland 15, Pilgrim 2

    Abby Skurka and Gwen Ross came through big for the Clippers in an impressive win over the Patriots. Skurka put up a team-best 6 goals and Ross came through with 4 to go with 3 assists. Brooke Tellier put up 2 in the win. Kiley Strain and Alexis Warburton had the two scores for the Patriots.

    BOYS VOLLEYBALL

    Division I

    Classical 3, East Greenwich 2

    James Men 's 48 assists and 4 aces and Teddy Wallace 's 19 kills, 4 blocks and 2 aces paved the way for the Purple's win over the Avengers.

    Division III

    Johnston 3, Mt. Hope 1 (25-19, 22-25, 25-22, 25-22)

    Toll Gate 3, Times2/PC/St. Pat's 0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-17)

    Austin Scotti paced the Titans with 11 kills and Auston Van had 8 kills in the win. Toll Gate improves to 8-4. Times2 co-op drops to 1-10.

    Burrillville 3, Middlebridge 0 (25-13, 25-23, 25-19)

    Frank Bergin led the way with 6 kills, 3 aces and 3 digs, while Aidan Gath ( 6 kills and 3 blocks) and Jose Espinal (5 aces, 2 blocks) also contributed to the win as the Broncos improved their record to 5-6. Middlebridge is now 1-9.

    Mount Pleasant 3, Achievement First 0 (25-23, 28-26, 25-17)

    Dakota Young posted 15 assists, 2 kills and 3 aces and Timmy Shodipe had 6 kills in the Kilties' win over Achievement First. AJ Kue had 13 assists for AF.
