CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — Police are investigating a deadly motorcycle crash that happened in Cranston Monday evening.

Maj. Todd Patalano said the motorcyclist was riding down Wellington Avenue when he lost control of his bike and hit the guardrail.

Patalano said the man, who ended up stuck between the guard rail and a fence, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation at this time, however, Patalano said speed may have been a factor.

This was one of three motorcycle crashes to happen in Cranston around the same time Monday, with the others happening on Seven Mile Road and Route 10.

Patalano said those involved in the other two crashes survived, but suffered serious injuries. He urged motorcyclists to ride with caution since there’s still salt and sand on the road from the winter.

“The street sweepers are not finished cleaning up the roads are entirely,” Patalano explained. “If you hit a patch of sand, there are certainly some serious consequences.”
