3 students arrested after guns found in Newton high school, deputies say
Deputies in Newton County have arrested three students after finding guns inside a high school earlier this month. According to a police report obtained by Channel 2 Action News, administrators found a loaded extended magazine on one of the students on April 15. Conyers man charged in beating death of elderly father
CONYERS — A Conyers man is in the Rockdale County Jail charged with malice murder in the beating death of his 91-year-old father. Danny Lee Chastain, 62, was initially arrested April 13 on charges of batteru. aggravated battery, willful obstruction of law enforcement, simple assault and aggravated assault in connection with the beating of his father, Talmadge Chastain, at the home the suspect shared with a roommate on Woodland Circle. The charge of malice murder was added when Talmadge Chastain died April 19.
Three charged after weapons found on campus at Newton High School
COVINGTON — Three Newton High School students, including one juvenile, were taken into custody April 15 in connection with weapons on campus. The Newton County Sheriff’s Office reported that the school was placed on lockdown at about 12 noon April 15 after a video on social media was discovered showing two students with what appeared to be a magazine and a handgun.
Third Suspect Arrested in Connection with Fatal 2023 Lithonia Home Invasion

Stephan Jamel Stewart, a 26-year-old, joined his alleged accomplices behind bars following his arrest on April 17, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.
