The nominations are in for this week's Caller-Times Student of the Week.

Voting is open until noon Thursday.

Participating Coastal Bend high school principals, teachers and guidance counselors nominated high school students they say have shown outstanding academic and school achievement and community service.

We will announce a winner and runner-up Friday.

To cast a vote, visit the poll at the bottom of this nominees list.

    The nominees are:

    • Noah Denton is an "outstanding student who challenges himself with rigorous AP classes and excels," according to his nomination from Calallen ISD. "He always greets you with a polite smile. As a classmate, Noah is always willing to help his peers. He is engaged in all class assignments and discussions. He is also a devoted member of the Calallen Wildcat Band, which requires extensive practice and performance hours outside of school. He juggles all of his responsibilities and stays at the top of his junior class."
    • Margaret Croft, a junior at Flour Bluff High School, was recently inducted into the National Honor Society, has participated in volleyball, basketball and track, and is a part of the Athletic Leadership Team. Croft plans to play volleyball in college and works hard toward this goal by earning recognition as an All State player in volleyball and basketball and was named as an MVP in both volleyball and basketball. She has played at the Academic All-District and Region sports level, and maintains a high GPA standing. "This student athlete is an exceptional athlete in multiple sports. She also excels in all advanced classes while maintaining a very high GPA.  Margaret is also involved in sports outside where she achieves high level of play," teacher and coach Kara Wallace said.
