Lady Bulldogs Win – Advance to Region Semifinals
The fourth-seeded Lady Bulldogs defeated the No. 5 seed, Waubay-Summit, in the Region 1A quarterfinals on Tuesday, February 20 in Sisseton. The final score was 53-37. In other quarterfinal action, No. 1 Sisseton – the fourth-rated team in the state –crushed the Wambdi of Tiospa Zina 86-22. Third-seeded Roncalli beat No. 7 Redfield 43-37. No. 2 Groton Area defeated No. 6 Webster 50-31.
Milbank Wins Battle of the Bulldogs – First Time in 16 Years
There’s a new sheriff in town! Milbank traveled to Madison on Monday, February 19, for the annual Battle of the Bulldogs and captured the victory. Madison had won 15 battles in a row – the last time Milbank defeated Madison was in February 21, 2008. This year, Milbank was gunning for them and took them down 65-58.

Six Bulldogs, one alternate, and one Lady Bulldog grappled their way into South Dakota’s 2024 State Wrestling Individual Championships. The athletes qualified at the regional meet in Pierre on Saturday, February 17. Regional winners from their respective classes will compete against each other February 22-24 at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls. Johnson Scores Career Best 23 Points to Carry Ashby Past Ortonville
Led by senior perimeter player Richie Johnson and his career best 23 points, the Ashby Arrows recorded a hard earned 68-55 road victory over the Ortonville Trojans on Thursday night. The Arrows held a 33-28 halftime advantage. Junior point guard Easton Nelson joined Johnson in double figures with 21 points. Kellen Dahlen grabbed 11 rebounds to go along with his 7 points. Jake Norby had 9 points. Traeton Nelson and Fred Schlotfeld finished with 6 and 2 points, respectively.
Students and Teachers to be Featured at Piano Festival
The 33rd Annual Piano Festival will be held at MHS on Sunday, February 25, at 1:30 p.m. The festival, sponsored by the Milbank Area Piano Teachers, is designed to showcase the talents of the musicians and encourage them in their studies. Reservation braces itself after OB-GYN program closes
SISSETON, S.D. – On a small reservation in the northeast corner of South Dakota, a beige, one-story building here serves the healthcare needs of the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate. The Couteau Des Prairies Health Care System, a 25-bed, nonprofit hospital, is the only inpatient resource for the entire Lake Traverse Reservation and was the only hospital with a functioning OB-GYN Department.

Madison Lets Lead Slip at Home; Falls to Milbank 65-58
The Madison Bulldogs couldn’t hang on to their lead at home and fall to the Milbank Bulldogs, 65-58. Madison fell to 8-11 overall after the loss. They maintained a lead for most of the game, but slowly let this slip later in the game when the offense began to slow. A strong effort early with a couple of double digit scoring quarters for a pair of Madison players. Which was the only real spark in the offense all night.
