See inside David Burke's new pizza restaurant coming to Cornelius

Decorated New York chef David Burke continues to expand his Charlotte-area footprint with a new restaurant called G.O.A.T. Pizza in Cornelius.

Why it matters: Burke, who's been featured on Iron Chef America and Top Chef Masters, opened The Fox & Falcon in SouthPark last year and was previously the chef at Cloud Bar and Red Salt within Le Méridien hotel in Uptown.

The vibe: G.O.A.T Pizza will cater to families and sports fans, per a press release from the restaurant.

• The 4,100-square-foot restaurant will be decorated with sports memorabilia from legends like Muhammad Ali, Magic Johnson, and Wayne Gretzky to hometown heroes like Christian McCaffrey, Luke Kuechly , Michael Jordan and Steph Curry .

Dig in: G.O.A.T Pizza will serve pizza, pasta, sandwiches, smash burgers and salads.

• Its full bar will serve local brews and an extensive selection of bourbon and tequila.

Stop by: G.O.A.T Pizza will open on April 27 at 9623 Bailey Road in Cornelius from 11am-11:30pm.

• The new 4,105-square-foot restaurant will be in Village at Oakhurst on Statesville Road.
