    Create an historic record in art class, May 22

    History portrays well in art. Art, not just with drawing or painting but by the use of “collage” …

    “An art form in which bits of objects as newspaper, cloth, leaves, etc. are pasted together on a surface to create a composition.” (Websters Dictionary) that may also include writing, painting, photos and clunky objects.

    This class will be held in Cook, MN for people 12 years old or older at Northwoods Friends of the Arts Gallery. . Your story could be history, a memory, a poem, an idea, a struggle or a victory! Tell the story of your life or your parents or grandparents life. You could tell stories about Cook or your lake or Boy Scouts, your Lions Club, your business or your church and more.

    There is still time to register for “Your Story As Art”, taught by artist Kris Musto, to be held on Thurs., May 22, 2024 The class begins at 12 noon and ends at 2 p.m. so bring a well developed story or a very loose idea with objects. Using art materials to transform it into a finished art piece on canvas, board or paper.

    Kris Musto has extensive experience working with paint, drawing, sculpture, installation, photography, collage, fiber, fabric, printmaking, text and anything else within reach. She holds a BFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. As a volunteer for NWFA she has contributed, over years, teaching classes in (collage, acrylic painting, handmade books) and co-created exhibits “Aprons In April” (with Lyn Reed), Sunlight and Shadows” (Laura Pajari) and “The Adventures of Jeanne & Kris” (Jeanne O’Melia).

    To register drop in at NWFA Gallery, 210 S. River St. next to DreamWeaver Day Spa and Salon Wed., Thurs. or Fri. from 10 to 4 or on Sat. from 9 to 1 p.m..
