Chances for strong storms tonight
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (Heartland News) - Good afternoon, Heartland. Today will be our final day in the Excessive Heat Warning. As we approach the late afternoon and the evening, a cold front will begin to head into our area. This will increase the shower and storm chance later on. There will be a good amount of energy in the atmosphere to support a few strong storms to develop, and they would pose a gusty wind threat. There is a Level 1 outlook for a majority of the area, and there is a newly upgraded Level 2 for parts of southern Illinois.
