A former Sikeston police captain involved in a wreck goes to court
A former Sikeston police captain involved in a wreck resulting in a woman’s death went to trial yesterday. Andrew Cooper Sr.’s attorney is claiming the captain was unjustly treated by officers who personally knew the defendant. Cooper is facing several felony charges; driving while intoxicated with the death of another not a passenger, armed criminal action, first-degree involuntary manslaughter and three counts of DWI with serious physical injury. 22YO Abigail Cohen died as a result of the collision in Feb. of 2020. Her husband, Chris, their son, Andrew Cooper Jr., and friend, were all injured. The trial is set to resume today in Poplar Bluff.
Sikeston to renovate former post office
SIKESTON, Mo. (KFVS) - The former post office in Sikeston is now under new ownership. The City Regional Chamber now owns the building at 215 North New Madrid Street and plan to renovate it. The goal is to create a visitor’s center hosting multiple departments along with a rodeo museum.
