CONKLIN, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Susquehanna Valley School District is combating food insecurity with an inaugural fundraiser.

Fifth graders from Francis P. Donnelly and Brookside Elementary Schools will compete in “Kick it for Cans” on May 15. The kickball competition will showcase the Sabers community spirit while raising awareness and support for those in need.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Sabers Food Center, which is housed at Donnelly.

“This event is not just about enjoying kickball competition, it’s about kicking hunger out of our community,” said Stacey Stilloe, Francis P. Donnelly Social Worker and Director of the Sabers Food Center. “It’s heartwarming to witness such unity and generosity from our sponsors, whose support will undoubtedly make a significant impact.”

The Sabers Food Center opened just over a year ago. It offers non-perishable food items, meats, personal hygiene and dental supplies, and more to families and individuals across the Sabers community. If you or someone you know is in need of assistance, contact Stacey Stilloe at (607)775-9149 to schedule a confidential appointment. Donations can be made by contacting Stilloe at the same phone number.
