( KRON ) — This past weekend, the owner of an East Bay towing company said several groups of men deliberately set his tow trucks on fire. The owner of California Towing told KRON 4 he thinks his business was targeted.

In video of one of the incidents, you can see a person going up into the cab of the truck and then running off as flames burst out of the driver’s side.

“Yeah, it is bad,” said owner Alan Ledesma.

Ledesma started California Towing nine years ago. Using his savings, and loans from his family, he said he built the business from scratch. But now, it seems like someone is trying to take it from him by destroying his four trucks parked at his driver’s homes in Concord and Bay Point.

“I think it is my competition,” said Ledesma, who also said he’s worried about his drivers and their families.

Ledesma said he is working with authorities and has handed over video taken from all four crime scenes. The Contra Costa Fire Protection District said it is working on the case.

“I hope they are found,” he said. “They said they were going to try and catch them.”
