A 'frustrated' McCoy proposes Albany County budget with increased spending, lower tax rate

Albany County Executive Dan McCoy on Monday proposed a $950 million budget for 2027 that will reduce the tax rate by 3%. The plan would lower the county rate to $2.48 per $1,000 in property assessed value from $2.56, McCoy said. He said that's a 37% decrease from 2014, when the tax rate was $3.95 per $1,000 through "right-sizing" the county workforce and "constantly looking at our budgets."

Niskayuna proposed tax levy increase drops to 12%

Albany Med retains firm to investigate allegations against CEO

The Albany Medical Health System Board has appointed Executive Vice President and General Counsel Matthew Jones as acting CEO while a financial risk advisory firm conducts an independent outside review of sexual allegations made against President and CEO Daniel Pickett III. According to a statement issued by the board, the advisory firm, Kroll, will also oversee how Pickett's alleged actions could potentially impact the health system.
