Footage of 2020 Drive-By Shooting Involving YFN Lucci Surfaces
Video of the 2020 drive-by shooting in Atlanta that YFN Lucci took part in has surfaced. On Tuesday (July 23), local Atlanta news station WSB-TV obtained surveillance footage that shows the deadly shooting, in which the YFN Lucci is accused of being the driver. In the footage, which can be seen below, a man in a neon green shirt can be seen drying off his car. A white SUV, which was driven by YFN Lucci, passes the man before stopping up the street. Suddenly, the rear driver's side door opens and someone armed with a rifle begins firing shots at the man down the street. He ducks for cover and appears to return fire. The white SUV slowly rolls down the street before moving off camera.

Butterflies and bees
The Country Gardeners were treated to a presentation about the Monarch Waystation Program by member David Comer. Attendees agreed that they had seen few to no monarchs this year and other species of butterflies appeared to be scarce. This led David to discuss the reasons for concern and what can be done to promote monarch conservation. Naturalizing an area in your yard with milkweeds and various nectar-rich flowers is the first step to setting up your waystation. David reviewed the criteria laid out by the Monarch Watch Organization such as size, exposure and shelter needed for the waystation. Once you have established your monarch environment , you can register the waystation at https://monarchwatch.org/waystations/

Calvin Thompson, 64, of Atlanta
Calvin Curtis Thompson, 64 of Atlanta, Michigan, died peacefully on July 16, 2024 at MyMichigan Medical Center of Alpena. He was born in Atlanta, Michigan on December 5, 1959 to Gerald and Barbara (Coles) Thompson. Being born and raised in Atlanta taught Calvin everything he needed to know about the outdoors. He loved being outside and taking walks in nature with his wife, Kelly. He had a man cave in his garage where he thoroughly loved to throw parties and entertain. Calvin was a social man and enjoyed his many friends and co-workers. He was a green thumb and was said to have been able to grow anything. His most recent hobby was hydroponics. Calvin loved his home and property in the woods, and he truly loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He is and will be deeply missed.

Girl Scout adventures!
MIO- The Mio AuSable Girl Scout Troop #8845 went on an exciting trip to Mackinac Island this spring. The weather was perfect, and the scouts were full of wonder as they began their journey on Sheplers Ferry to the Island. Each scout was able to pick a souvenir to commemorate this trip made possible by their hard work raising funds with cookie sales. The Girl Scouts, leaders, and volunteers would like to give a grand thank you to all their supporters and cookie connoisseurs.
Raymond Marlatt, 64, of Atlanta
Mr. Raymond Deloss Marlatt, 84 of Atlanta, Michigan died peacefully at home surrounded by family on July 16, 2024. He was born in Lansing, Michigan on January 12, 1940 to the late Donald and Irene (Wilson) Marlatt. He and his family returned to the family homestead at Big Rock, in Atlanta, when he was four years old. Raymond earned his bachelor’s degree in education and went on to teach for Atlanta Community Schools and later on at various schools in Alpena. He primarily taught physical education at Thunder Bay Junior High. He was married to Thelma Murl Marlatt for over 40 years, until her passing in 2008. He later met his wife Sharon and on November 3, 2012 he married Sharon (Hyde) Marlatt and together they celebrated 11 years of marriage before his passing. Raymond was a previous member of the Big Rock Congregational Church for many years. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing, and sports of any kind. He played baseball for Central Michigan University while attending college and was also very good at basketball and football. He enjoyed his time with family and loved spending time on Marlatt Mountain. Ray loved his God, his family, and friends and it was evident in all he did. His heart was as big as his smile. Raymond was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by both family and friends.
