When Jessica Zander started The Poppy Seed in 2018, she sprouted the business out of a century-old DeForest house into a thriving coffee shop-meets-boutique retail business. At the time, her daughters were four and six years old, and there was a room upstairs with a couch and a TV where the girls would hang out while Zander worked.
