STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Walmart has announced plans to shutter eight stores across four states in the coming months. According to Business Insider, the corporation recently issued layoff notices at the affected locations, which the company said were not meeting financial performance expectations. In total, 1,049 employees will be impacted by closures in various communities, including: Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Towson, Maryland, and Columbus, Ohio, as reported by the media outlet.

Arrest made in April murder of Columbus woman
Columbus investigators have made a murder arrest in connection to an April shooting death. The shooting occurred in the 800 block of Morris Road at 12:49 A.M. on Monday, April 15, 2024. Officers found a woman, later identified as Jakesa Josey, deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. Josey was pronounced dead at 1:28 A.M. on the scene.
