Cinco De Mayo is upon us, and the best way for people this far from the border to honor this auspicious Mexican holiday is to eat some good food , but more importantly, drink some good drinks. And what better way to celebrate than to imbibe in the sweet and salty goodness of a margarita.
Cinco de Mayo celebrates the military victory in 1862 of Mexico over Napoleon and his French forces. This day is celebrated in the state of Puebla with quite a bit of fanfare including parades, speeches and battle reenactments. Cinco de Mayo is not to be confused with Mexican Independence Day, which is celebrated on Sept. 16.
