A former South Carolina math teacher is accused of passing out drugs and booze to one of her teen students in front of her two kids who then ratted her out, authorities said.

Najla Clayton was arrested last week after she allegedly gave the 16-year-old boy marijuana and tobacco months ago over the winter break for Clear Dot Charter School, where she was working at the time, Columbia police said in a news release.

The 36-year-old educator also allegedly offered her 11-year-old daughter weed while allowing her to smoke a tobacco product, police said.

Her daughter, as well as her younger child, 6, told another family member about the incidents, leading the older relative to contact police, Columbia authorities said.

Clayton is facing two counts of unlawful conduct toward a child and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

She was cut loose from a local detention center after posting a $10,000 bond, but the investigation by the police department’s Special Victims Unit is ongoing.

The state’s Department of Social Services is helping Columbia police with the investigation.

Clayton is longer teaching at Clear Dot Charter School, though it’s unclear how the school and teacher parted ways.

She started as a math teacher at the school in July 2023, The State reported, citing her LinkedIn profile.

She taught at three other schools before landing at the charter school, the newspaper reported.

Clayton could reportedly face more than 20 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
