Missouri made a championship run in the SEC Softball Tournament, and the Tigers will look to do so again — this time, en route to Oklahoma City for the 2024 Women's College World Series.

But first, the No. 7 seed Tigers will have to handle business on their home turf beginning on Friday against Omaha in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Softball Tournament . They face off against the Mavericks at 4:30 p.m. CT inside Mizzou Softball Stadium in the Columbia Regional.

Larissa Anderson's squad came close to winning its first SEC Tournament title since 2009 on Saturday, but came up short to Florida, falling 6-1 to the Gators in the tournament championship. Team-leading hitter Jenna Laird went 1 for 3 in the game with a double and a walk. Laird, who leads the Tigers with a .350 batting average, earned her third-straight second-team All-SEC selection in 2024.

Missouri is one of 13 teams from the SEC appearing in the 2024 NCAA Softball Tournament this year, which ties the conference record for most selections in a single postseason. The Tigers lead the all-time series with the Mavericks 2-0, but Friday's matchup is the first time both squads will face off against each other in the NCAA Softball Tournament.

Omaha, which brings a 41-13 overall record into the Columbia Regional, went 5-1 in the Summit League Tournament to earn the conference's automatic selection. The Mavericks' 41 wins also mark the most wins a season in program history since transitioning to Division I prior to the 2011-12 season. Graduate student pitcher Kamryn Meyer ranked first in the Summit League this season with a 1.51 ERA, 239 strikeouts and 25-4 record across 189 2/3 innings of work.
