Two incidents occurred this week in Monroe County, Illinois. The first incident involved a two-vehicle crash with injuries on North Market Street in Waterloo. Emergency personnel responded to the scene. The second incident was a house fire in Brighton Park, resulting in the death of a Columbia alum. Rocío Villaseñor, a local journalist, lost her life in the fire. She was a graduate student at Columbia and had written for various publications. These incidents will be included in the weekly safety report for Monroe County.
Robinson scores 24, New Hampshire downs Columbia 80-71
DURHAM, N.H, (AP) — Ahmad Robinson’s 24 points helped New Hampshire defeat Columbia 80-71 on Sunday. Robinson had seven rebounds and six assists for the Wildcats (6-3). Clarence O. Daniels II added 15 points while shooting 6 for 13 (1 for 5 from 3-point range) and 2 of 3 from the free throw line, and they also had seven rebounds. Jaxson Baker had 12 points and was 3 of 12 shooting, including 1 for 6 from 3-point range, and went 5 for 6 from the line.
Items stolen from construction company’s trailer south of Arnold
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of items from a construction company’s trailer that was in the 4900 block of Jeffco Boulevard south of Arnold. Tools, walk-boards and ladders were stolen, police reported. The Sheriff’s Office does not provide estimated values for stolen items.
