Kicking up meals for those in need
The Waconia U14 Soccer Club girls teamed up last month to pack meals for the hungry. The girls had a team building event April 25 volunteering at Feed My Starving Children in Chanhassen where they helped pack 59 boxes or 33,984 meals. The girls learned a lot while having fun, said team manager Megan Grudt, and as one girl remarked, “That was fun and it feels so good to do something nice for others!” (Submitted photos)

Scout achieves Eagle rank
Jack Geller of Waconia Troop 327 recently was recognized for achieving the highest rank of Eagle Scout at a court of honor ceremony. He achieved the rank in November and an Eagle Scout project plaque dedication was held April 28. His Scouting career accomplishments include completing all 139 merit badges, something that is rarely achieved in Scouting careers. Geller’s Eagle Scout project involved building a gazebo for the Laketown Elementary School playground. Last year he was part of the World Scout Jamboree held in South Korea, one of 11 Scouts from Minnesota who were part of the 500-member U.S. contingent.

Mound Westonka High School is proud to name senior Jack Nelson as the 2024 male recipient of the Yost-Haddorff-Leopold Award.
