PLACER COUNTY, Calif. — A California Highway Patrol motorcyclist is seriously injured after a driver who ran a red light hit them in Placer County, officials said. The crash happened around 6:35 a.m. along Highway 49 at Shale Ridge Road near the Auburn area, CHP said. A vehicle was going southbound on Highway 49, blew past the red light and hit the CHP officer who was going northbound toward Shale Ridge Road, ejecting him.

Placer Sheriff's Office to host school safety symposiums at Colfax, Del Oro
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office is hosting two safety symposiums to educate the public on threats involving school campuses. The symposiums, in partnership with the FBI Sacramento Office, will provide parents, guardians and middle and high school students with insight into the agencies’ threat-assessment processes. The symposiums will be from 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Del Oro High School, 3301 Taylor Road in Loomis, and Thursday, May 23, at Colfax High School, 24995 Ben Taylor Road in Colfax.
