CLOVIS, N.M. — The Clovis Police Department on Monday released new information about the suspect accused of abducting an infant after a double homicide just north of Clovis on May 3. The suspect was identified as Alek Collins, 26, of Houston.
According to CPD, Collins and 10-month-old Eleia Maria Torres were found at a home in Abilene. Police said it appeared the suspect did not know the victims.
Police initially responded to Ned Houk Park five miles north of Clovis around 4:26 p.m. CPD said Samantha “Harley” Cisneros and Taryn Allen, both 23, of Texico, were found dead with gunshot wounds outside of a silver minivan. A 5-year-old girl was found with a gunshot wound to the head and taken to a Lubbock hospital. According to CPD, baby Eleia was abducted. Police said Cisneros is the mother of both children.
Police said on the day of the incident, the two women and children stopped at Twin Cronnie’s to pick up food. The group then went to Dollar Tree in the 3900 block of North Prince Street before heading to the park. Police said a witness who was walking in the park “believed he had heard gunshots, but it was not immediately reported to law enforcement.”
Around 4:25 p.m., police said two males entered the park and found the victims next to the minivan.
Authorities did not answer any questions on Monday. Additional updates can be found at EverythingLubbock.com .
