CLOVIS, N.M. (KAMR/KCIT) — The Clovis Community College Board of Trustees announced on Thursday that their sixth President will be Dr. Jonathan Fuentes, who is expected to assume the role on July 1.
According to officials from CCC, Fuentes is currently the Vice President of Academic Partnerships at Odessa College, and Fuentes previously served as the Assistant Superintendent of Businesses and Support Services alongside previously serving as Interim Superintendent at Pecos-Barstow-Toyah Independent School District in Pecos, Texas.
“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we are excited to have Dr. Jonathan Fuentes become the sixth President of Clovis Community College. We unanimously agree that he is the enthusiastic, friendly, visionary that will build on our strengths and serve us well as we transition into the future,” said Board of Trustees Chair, Lora Harlan. “Dr. Fuentes is already committed to our Vision and Mission. He is ready to strengthen and grow the service to our students, faculty, and staff. I believe he is ready to take the helm at CCC and become an integral part of our greater Clovis Community.”
Officials also stated Fuentes earned a Doctor of Philosophy of Political Science with specializations in American Government, Public Policy and Administration, Comparative Government, and Education Policy from the University of Michigan, a Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of Michigan, and a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Harvard University.
“I am honored to be selected as the next President of Clovis Community College. After my visit to the college and the community, I immediately realized how special the places and people were and how I wanted to be a part of them,” said Dr. Fuentes. “I look forward to working with everyone to build on the many strengths and to capitalize on the great opportunities in front of the college and community. My wife, children, and I are excited to live and serve alongside you.”
